Jewelry Live Auctions at Bidz.com
October 22, 2007 – 5:19 pmwww.Bidz.com is an online auctioneer that concentrates on consumer products like jewelry, art and other collectibles. While other auctions are content to let you place a bid and have you wait for the countdown to when the auction expires, Bidz allows you to bid and see others bid against you. Your bidding is done in real time. Live auctions occur 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
How bidding works
Once you register and login you can bid on any item in the inventory. All bids are kept until bidding stops after 15 seconds. So if you bid on an item, and no one bids against you, then after 15 seconds it is yours. There is no minimum reserve. The minimum bid is $1.00.
If you are bidding against someone, or several people, you will see the bids immediately and have 15 seconds to up the bid or you lose the item.
If you win you are notified. You have 5 days to pay for the item. Paypal is one method of payment; BillMeLater, credit cards like Visa, Discover and Mastercard are welcome. They also provide Jewelers Insurance.
Bargain Jewelry
Bidz will search for and buy bargain jewelry and then turn around and make it available for bidding. Their Jewelry experience and expertise provides you with the opportunity to get quality gems for all occasions. They can get traditional as well as contemporary styles. Manufacturers also use Bidz as a channel for alleviating burgeoning inventory. The entire collection of items is kept on site; delivery will be timely.
How good is the Jewelry?
Bidz, guarantees the listings as described in the auction. They have their own professional team of gemologists to verify and certify the stones. This is in keeping with their customer satisfaction program. Since word of mouth is important in this business, satisfied customers means more customers. Hence if you are not satisfied with the gem as described customers can expect a full refund, with shipping and handling included.
They do have a return policy which allows you to send items back, no questions asked and they will charge you 15% for restocking the item.
The secondary market and affiliate programs
If you are thinking of selling a piece of jewelry purchased at Bidz on e-bay, that is not a problem. Resellers can use Bidz as a primary source of products for later resale.
Bidz also has an affiliate program which provides a 16% commission on Jewelry sales. They also provide the banners and links. Registration is free. In addition, they will allow you, without charge or royalties, to use the images from the website in other venues like e-bay or yahoo’s auctions if you are reselling items purchased on Bidz at those sites.
Certified Merchant Program
Besides jewelry Bidz has auctions for other items like books, food products automobiles, and sporting goods. There are hundreds of other items that they sell. But these are sold through the certified merchant program. Merchants cannot sell goods without first going through an approval process.
The auctions are not the typical Bidz auction, these have a termination period, which could be days, hours, and minutes.
The Live Auction Experience
Currently Bidz sells nearly 10,000 jewelry pieces every day. Some for as low as $1.00, but they also handle extremely expensive items…upwards of $20,000. The auction pursuit can be engaging and it is not like the e-bay experience which occurs usually in the last 2 minutes of the auction.
These auctions can be heart pounding every 15 seconds or less as you see the price of an item go up and the time left to bid go down.
